For businesses in competitive, dynamic markets, simply having a good website is not enough anymore. A business could have the most attractive, efficient, well run website on the market but if it is not integrated across multimedia platforms and reaching the masses it will not be successful. The rise of ecommerce means that thousands of businesses are able to offer similar products and services at different prices and all of these businesses are available to a consumer in minutes. A business must use a digital strategy that combines advertising, social media and in some cases mobile marketing.
Social media integration is easy to begin with but hard to develop. Anyone can start a page on a social networking site but it can be incredibly difficult to gather support on that page. With millions of people on social networking sites they can be a great place to promote to potential new customers. However, where there are millions of people there are already thousands of businesses who are also trying to appeal to the expansive social media market. A business must devise a strategy that is effective but, more importantly, incredibly flexible so it can be altered to meet the demands of a market that can change significantly in less than 24 hours. If used well, a social media presence can have a huge effect on a business’s profits as it draws in more markets and, if customers are happy, they are likely to spread the word quickly and to lots of people with a single click.
The increased amount of smart phones also means that there are millions of potential customers available to a business quickly and easily. With the right application, or ‘app’ for short, a business can increase its brand awareness and its customer loyalty. Many businesses offer discounts to people who have their app or use it to get information about new products out quickly. Having an app means that people can check on your business whenever they want and wherever they are. A unique app will be remembered and if it is interesting customers will use it again and again to find out about the business and to show to their friends.
One of the big differences with social media is that people do share what they are happy with. If they find something they like or something that is interesting to them they are likely to share it with their friends, fans or followers. This is why a social integration strategy can be crucial to the success of a business; it can significantly increase sales revenue if it is done well. While it can be difficult to do well it can be very worthwhile.
